Canopy Garage Doors

​Up and Over Garage Doors are simple, affordable and easy to maintain.  If you choose a Canopy Up and Over Garage Door (Canopy Gear), the door panel will run vertically on tracks on the side frame and a with a spring assembly on the top frame. When the Canopy Garage Door is open, the door panel will protrude approximately 1/3 forming a canopy.  Thus, giving it the name Canopy Garage Door.  There are no tracks running back into the garage when the door is closed, leaving the roof space clear inside the garage which can be used for storage and the drive through width slightly wider.  ​

Retractable Garage Doors

An Up and Over Retractable Garage Door (Retractable Gear),  so called because the door panel retracts fully into the garage when the Garage Door is open.   A Retractable Garage Door runs on vertical tracks which extend into the roof space of the garage.  The disadvantage of a Retractable Garage Door is that the drive through width is reduced as the lifting arms sit between the sub frame when the door is open.  However, if the garage is not used to house your car, a Retractable Garage Door is perfectly adequate for most.  

Both types of door can be automated using our SOMMER Operators.  Many Garage Door Companies, will advise that they are unable to automate a Canopy Garage Door.  Wakefield Garage Doors are experts in automation and we are able to automate Canopy Garage Doors using our conversion kits.
